Our Mission Statement

We are the Young Adults of the Light of Christ Family of Parishes, Family #17 in the Diocese of Buffalo. With the help of the Holy Spirit, we are committed to nourishing a community of young adults (ages 20-49), within which members develop deep friendships with one another, charitably serve the Catholic Buffalo and broader Buffalo communities, and grow in their understanding of and love for the Catholic Church and Jesus Christ.

🎳 Friday night we all ventured over to Corpus Christi Church. The night started with a delicious polish dinner and tour of their historic, gorgeous Church! Then we bowled the night away! Thank you Zach and Ed and everyone who helped make this evening possible! Definitely, one we won't forget soon. And we will be back! Faith, Fellowship, Friendships, and Fun!! Next up.... Thank you Dan and Shannon Lawson for being with us this past Wednesday Night. They discussed all about Growing in Holiness and our roles as men and women in marriage. They are such a beautiful example of a Catholic Marriage. We all learned so much and loved picking their brains! Thank you from the bottom of our hearts. A big thank you to OLV, Deacon Mark and the Victorious Hearts Couples Ministry for hosting us this evening. We started the evening with Mass where all the children dressed up as Saints, then some food, fellowship and fire and we ended the evening with an amazing Holy Cross Cemetery tour guided by Deacon Mark. It was incredible to see so many people come out to celebrate this Holy weekend. @amanda_l_english thank you for putting together this incredible evening for our community! You are amazing and we are so blessed to have you as part of our LoCYA family. May our Lord continue to guide and bless you in all you do!

After a beautiful start to this Holy Tridium weekend (All Hallows' Eve, All Saints Day and All Souls Day) we had to stop for ice cream and support this new and wonderful ice shop! (Also if you mention Blessed Sacrament at checkout, a percentage of your sale goes to Blessed Sacrament!)

What a great day hiking around Letchworth with everyone! What a beautiful sight to behold, this beautiful creation God made for us! 🍁🍂

What a success our 2nd Annual Apple Palooza was!! A wonderful day of fellowship and service! We carpooled to Smith's Orchard (after our weekly Catechism Class) to pick some delicious apples. Then we headed over to Wagner's for a bite to eat- and had wonderful faith filled inspiring conversations. We then head back to St Faustina's Gate Food Pantry to donate some of our pickings!

We all had a great time at the @bsacramentchurch Parish Picnic and Mass on the Grass!! (The dunk tank had to be the most fun!)

🍎 Join us for our 2nd Annual Apple Palooza! 🍎 Oct 4th (after our weekly Catechism Study at Blessed Sacrament in Tonawanda) Carpooling from Blessed Sacrament Parking lot at 11:45am *We plan to donate some of our pickings to the St. Faustina's Gate Food Pantry after our meal.

Thank you to Kate Washington and Rosemary Schaener for joining us last night and teaching us the beauty of Rosary Making! What an incredible ministry! We had so much fun! *If anyone is interested in helping them make Rosaries for their ministry, please let Megan know or comment below and we will get you on the list for Kate.

Saturday, after our weekly morning Catechism class, we carpooled up to Lewiston to hike the Artpark Trail, enjoy the Fatima Shrine and have a wonderful dinner together at Brickyard BBQ. 10 hrs together and we still were having the best time! Friendships in Christ are friends for life!

⚾🦬Sunday afternoon, after Mass, we carpooled to enjoy the final Bisons Game of the season together. Definitely a fun afternoon! Friends in Christ are friends for life!

This past Wednesday night was another successful gathering around the fire after our weekly Mass, Confession and Adoration. We loved to see some new faces too and we can wait to see you again soon! This Wednesday night after Mass, we'll be doing Rosary Making! Come join us!

We have had an eventful week! Friday Night a bunch of us met at Regal to see @sightandsoundtheatres production of Noah and then headed to Applebee's for some fellowship. It was incredible! We are so grateful that productions like this are available to us and we will always support Christian movies in the theaters!

What a fantastic turnout for the Carlo Acutis Movie; Roadmap to Reality! Thank you to everyone who showed up and support. We hope you left feeling inspired by Carlo! He will be canonized this Sunday.

This film explores the life of the first millennial Saint, who will be Canonized Sept 7th, and his perspective on technology and digital distractions. In a world losing itself to screens, teenage mystic Carlo Acutis saw beyond the social media-addicted society we live in and offered an answer... if we're willing to listen. We all had such a great time at St. Stephens RC Church Rocking the Grounds event last night! We had 4 teams participating in the Cornhole Tournament and we all enjoyed the food, live music, car show, tour of the original church, basket raffles etc and afterwards we went to Say Cheese Pizza for even more fellowship! Thank you to members Vince, Quinn and Rebecca for hosting us on your home turf. (Next year a LOCYA team WILL win the Cornhole tournament!!)

Tonight, after our weekly Mass, we carpooled to Lackawanna for a private tour of OLV Basilica. This was such an enriching and inspiring evening! Deacon Mark gave the best tour while educating us on all things Fr Baker and all the details of the basilica and its creation. What an important part of our Catholic History in WNY! We all left blown away, inspired to learn more and follow the example Venerable Fr Nelson Baker set for us. Thank you Deacon Mark and OLV for having our LOCYA Group!

Another wonderful Wednesday gathering for our Light of Christ Young Adults! After Mass, last week, we were delighted to welcome our own Sister Lucette who told us her vocation story and discussed how we all are called, around the fire! Thank you so much Sister. May we all remember to be still and listen, and do everything for God every day.

What a blast we had last week at our 1 Yr Celebration of our Ministry! True friendships have formed and we continuously challenge each other to grow in our faith. Here's to many more fruitful years to come! Jesus, we trust in You! Glory to God!

What a sad but bittersweet day, saying goodbye to our beloved Fr Martin Gallagher as he moves on to DC, to join an order and teach other priests. How grateful and blessed we all are to have had the time we were allowed with him. May God continue to guide him and use him all for His Glory!! We love you and will miss you Fr Gallagher!

This past week we learned how to decorate eggs Polish style! Thank you to Evan, one of our young adults, who led this evening and taught us all this beautiful tradition. We had a great time (it was so therapeutic) and some great fellowship! Join us this coming Wednesday to watch one of the newer movies on Fatima!

Every Wednesday Night, anyone in their 20s, 30s, and 40s, come join us! We have a wonderful next few months planned, including bonfires, socials, service projects (like gardening!), and diving more into our faith! This month we will be watching a movie on Fatima and learning about the Flame of Love Devotion to our Lady. All are Welcome.

Last Wednesday night, our gathering at St Anthony's was amazing! Fr Martin said a beautiful Mass (first Latin Mass for some of us too!). Then we had a social with the St Anthony's Young Adults, who welcomed us with open arms - great fellowship between the 2 groups and the Brother's even had lots of pizza and donuts for everyone. A great discussion with q&a about the Latin Mass, what an oratory is and what brought the brothers to Buffalo. What a blessing and example they are! We hope this is the start of a very beautiful friendship between the groups! We are stronger together!

Another great Wednesday in the books! Tonight after Mass we watched a Fr Chris Alar talk on Confession and had a brief discussion afterwards. Then we broke off into our separate men's and women's Lenten groups. God is so good!

The Light of Christ Young Adults would like to invite you, people of all ages, to "A Night of Healing and Praise" led by Fr Bill Quinlivan. Wednesday, March 19th Blessed Sacrament Church 263 Claremont Ave Tonawanda The night will consist of Mass at 6:30pm in the Church, Confession 5:45-6:15pm, Adoration and a guided healing mediation after Mass at Blessed Sacrament. Then join us in Fr Cotter Hall for a "Praise Song" Social, refreshments provided. We hope this night will bring healing in many ways and encourage fellowship and friendships, all while deepening our love and faith in our Lord this Lenten Season. ALL AGES WELCOME!

Last night officially wrapped up our Theology of the Body/Discerning your Vocation series with a discussion with our Deacons Andrew and Dan and their wives, Jen and Jennie! We learned about their calls to the deaconate, formation (and yes the wives are included in the formation process) and how their marriage vocation is first throughout. We are so blessed to have Deacon Andrew and Jen and Deacon Dan and Jennie in our Family of Parishes! Thank you so much for being with us!

What a night caroling was tonight! To say it was special would be an understatement. We braved the snow with our hot beverages and brought Christmas cheer to some homebound parishioners and friends. There were tears and hugs and many thanks. What a very beautiful night! (Thank you Sarah for bringing us all cookies too!! So yummy!)

Last Night we met at the Fatima Shrine for a beautiful evening together! We explored the gift shop, at some delicious food in the cafeteria, some of us went to Mass while others prayed in front of the many relics at the shrine. Kristen led a rosary around the pool and we enjoyed walking the lights, having many laughs and great conversations!

St Andrews Weeding and Trimming Clean Up Part 2. Thank you to everyone who came out to spend a few hours with us, having fun doing some service for our Light of Christ Family. We all had such a fun day!

Our Young Adults this week, after our weekly Mass, Adoration and Confession, sponsored a talk open to all ages on the Latin Mass led by our own Fr Martin Gallagher. The response from this talk has been remarkable! Everyone keeps saying how fun it was and how much they learned. Thank you to everyone who brought food to share to contribute to our night. Souls, and bellies, were surely filled this week! Thank you Fr Martin for being with us and teaching us on more on our Catholic faith and tradition.

Our Light of Christ Young Adults spent 3 hours yesterday morning on the St Andrews grounds weeding and trimming while praying for all the St Andrews Parishioners. We will be heading back sometime this week because there really are so many weeds and so much to do. Thank you to Ben, Anna, Tori, Dorian, Ed and Megan who all came out to help, along with a St Andrews Parishioner who joined us when she found out! We really had a fun morning with you all!

What a wonderful night of our Young Adults Gathering. After Mass, Adoration and Confession, we prayed the Rosary and Chaplet of Divine Mercy with the congregation. Then we head over to Fr Cotter Hall for some goodies, warm beverages, fellowship and an introduction video on Theology of the Body. What a lovely lovely night! Thank you everyone who joined us! We hope to see you all this Saturday morning, 9am at St Andrews to do some weeding and have a fun time. (Coffee and some breakfast treats will be available.)

Saturday, we went apple picking at Smith's Orchard and were able to donate a good amount of apples to one of our family food pantries, St Faustina's Gate at Blessed Sacrament. Then Sunday night, a handful of us met at St Martin of Tours to attend a free concert with @frbillquinlivan and @mitchmcvickermusic .
