Our Mission Statement

We are the Young Adults of the Light of Christ Family of Parishes, Family #17 in the Diocese of Buffalo. With the help of the Holy Spirit, we are committed to nourishing a community of young adults (ages 20-49), within which members develop deep friendships with one another, charitably serve the Catholic Buffalo and broader Buffalo communities, and grow in their understanding of and love for the Catholic Church and Jesus Christ.

? Friday night we all ventured over to Corpus Christi Church. The night started with a delicious polish dinner and tour of their historic, gorgeous Church! Then we bowled the night away! They are such a beautiful example of a Catholic Marriage. We all learned so much and loved picking their brains! Thank you from the bottom of our hearts. A big thank you to OLV, Deacon Mark and the Victorious Hearts Couples Ministry for hosting us this evening. We started the evening with Mass where all the children dressed up as Saints, then some food, fellowship and fire and we ended the evening with an amazing Holy Cross Cemetery tour guided by Deacon Mark. It was incredible to see so many people come out to celebrate this Holy weekend. @amanda_l_english thank you for putting together this incredible evening for our community! You are amazing and we are so blessed to have you as part of our LoCYA family. May our Lord continue to guide and bless you in all you do!

What a success our 2nd Annual Apple Palooza was!! A wonderful day of fellowship and service! We carpooled to Smith's Orchard (after our weekly Catechism Class) to pick some delicious apples. Then we headed over to Wagner's for a bite to eat- and had wonderful faith filled inspiring conversations. We then head back to St Faustina's Gate Food Pantry to donate some of our pickings!

Saturday, after our weekly morning Catechism class, we carpooled up to Lewiston to hike the Artpark Trail, enjoy the Fatima Shrine and have a wonderful dinner together at Brickyard BBQ. 10 hrs together and we still were having the best time! Friendships in Christ are friends for life!

We have had an eventful week! Friday Night a bunch of us met at Regal to see @sightandsoundtheatres production of Noah and then headed to Applebee's for some fellowship. It was incredible! We are so grateful that productions like this are available to us and we will always support Christian movies in the theaters!

We had 4 teams participating in the Cornhole Tournament and we all enjoyed the food, live music, car show, tour of the original church, basket raffles etc and afterwards we went to Say Cheese Pizza for even more fellowship! Thank you to members Vince, Quinn and Rebecca for hosting us on your home turf. (Next year a LOCYA team WILL win the Cornhole tournament!!)

What a sad but bittersweet day, saying goodbye to our beloved Fr Martin Gallagher as he moves on to DC, to join an order and teach other priests. How grateful and blessed we all are to have had the time we were allowed with him. May God continue to guide him and use him all for His Glory!! We love you and will miss you Fr Gallagher!

This past week we learned how to decorate eggs Polish style! Thank you to Evan, one of our young adults, who led this evening and taught us all this beautiful tradition. Last Wednesday night, our gathering at St Anthony's was amazing! Fr Martin said a beautiful Mass (first Latin Mass for some of us too!). Then we had a social with the St Anthony's Young Adults, who welcomed us with open arms - great fellowship between the 2 groups and the Brother's even had lots of pizza and donuts for everyone. A great discussion with q&a about the Latin Mass, what an oratory is and what brought the brothers to Buffalo. What a blessing and example they are! We hope this is the start of a very beautiful friendship between the groups! We are stronger together!

We learned about their calls to the deaconate, formation (and yes the wives are included in the formation process) and how their marriage vocation is first throughout. We are so blessed to have Deacon Andrew and Jen and Deacon Dan and Jennie in our Family of Parishes! Thank you so much for being with us!

What a night caroling was tonight! To say it was special would be an understatement. We braved the snow with our hot beverages and brought Christmas cheer to some homebound parishioners and friends. There were tears and hugs and many thanks. What a very beautiful night! (Thank you Sarah for bringing us all cookies too!! So yummy!)

Last Night we met at the Fatima Shrine for a beautiful evening together! We explored the gift shop, at some delicious food in the cafeteria, some of us went to Mass while others prayed in front of the many relics at the shrine. Kristen led a rosary around the pool and we enjoyed walking the lights, having many laughs and great conversations!

Our Young Adults this week, after our weekly Mass, Adoration and Confession, sponsored a talk open to all ages on the Latin Mass led by our own Fr Martin Gallagher. The response from this talk has been remarkable! Everyone keeps saying how fun it was and how much they learned. Thank you to everyone who brought food to share to contribute to our night. Souls, and bellies, were surely filled this week! Thank you Fr Martin for being with us and teaching us on more on our Catholic faith and tradition.

Saturday, we went apple picking at Smith's Orchard and were able to donate a good amount of apples to one of our family food pantries, St Faustina's Gate at Blessed Sacrament. Then Sunday night, a handful of us met at St Martin of Tours to attend a free concert with @frbillquinlivan and @mitchmcvickermusic . See this week's email (sent today!) for more info on upcoming gatherings, masses, fellowship and service opportunities!
